UAE recently has announced new changes in the residence visas.
As per local media sources in the first year, 44,000 visas were issued in Dubai alone. Such initiatives will aim the city of Dubai to boost its 3.5 million residents to 5.8 million by 2040.Within the announcement, a new type of Green Residence Permit was announced for investors, skilled employees, self-employed individuals and family members.
The UAE leadership wants to attract more skilled professionals, those with medicine and science backgrounds, the brightest students and tech-savvy minds to live in the Emirates.Wealthy investors, entrepreneurs and company owners are sought after. Officials hope they will set down roots, invest in property and make the country their long-term home and benefit many residents and people who are looking to make the country home or second home.
Another category for the Green Residence visa is for investors and partners. Under this category, too, a sponsor will not be required for the holder of the Green Residency.Requirements including approval of the investment and proof of investment. If the investor (partner) has more than one licence, the total invested capital will be calculated. Approval of the competent local authorities is mandatory

This is apart from the standard employment residence visa, which is offered for two years.
Another category was for students enrolled in educational entities. A two-year residence permit will be available for students, which will be sponsored by a licensed educational establishment in the UAE.
