1. Select the type of business activity

2. Find a local sponsor

If you are a foreign investor, you will need to have a local sponsor. The sponsor must be a UAE National who serves as a partner in the company and own 51% of the company shares.

3. Get the MOA and company’s lease agreement signed by a public notary

Get an MOA which is a written agreement between parties that shows they agree to work together. It needs to be notarized. Apart from that, you have to find an office space and get the lease agreement notarized.

4. Furnish the necessary documents

You need to furnish all the required documents for obtaining a trade license. These documents could vary depending on your business activity.

5. Pay the license fees

You’ll have to pay the license fee that is needed for acquiring trade license.

6. Apply for an Establishment Card

You need to apply for an establishment card through the Immigration Authority. It’s just a plastic card that contains information about your company.

7. Obtain approval from the Name board

You must submit three different name options to authority. The name must be unique and it must not contain any indecent words. Also it mustn’t indicate God’s names in Arabic or English.

8. Get approval for hiring an employee from the Ministry of Labour

You have to get an Entry Visa and work permit from the Ministry of Labor for your employees. You must apply for this on behalf of your employees.

9. Get a stamp on a visa from the Immigration Department

You must begin the process to get a valid stamped passport. This must be done by your local sponsor or partner in UAE.

10. Submit forms to the Department of Economic Development (DED)

You need to submit all the required forms for your name along with your company registration form to the Department of Economic Development.

11. Register your trade name

After finalizing your trade name, you must register it with the Department of Economic Development. This step can be done online.

12. Obtain approval from the authority

You may have to obtain other approvals from municipality depending on your business type. After paying the fees and submitting all the required documents, you will get your business license within in few days.
